I travelled to Hvar from Split on the catamaran, it takes about an hour. It’s beautiful, a yachties paradise and a party animals kryptonite, this island does not sleep. Not only is it famed for the night life and food, it also has some of the most beautiful beaches. They are rocky but ladders provide easy access in and out of the crystal clear turquoise water.

Carpe Diem and Hula Hula are the most popular party spots, you can book tables at these beach clubs and begin your party in the day. Carpe Diem has a branch on an island too and at 7pm they ferry you back to Hvar to continue partying at the Carpe Diem there. Hula Hula was absolutely insane, we had a table there but if we didn’t I am not sure it would be as good because it was really crowded. We literally danced on the table as there was no standing room but it was so much fun!

Food does not disappoint in Croatia, although menus are generally very samey they know what they do best and they stick to it. With finely sourced ingredients and a sea brimming with sea-life this place does not disappoint. From Adriatic prawns to perfectly grilled sea bass the restaurants always deliver, especially for sea food lovers. The proximity to Italy has influenced the cuisine and homemade pasta laced with truffles can be found on almost every menu. Our star find on Hvar island however was 50 Burgers and Champagne. The truffle burgers were to die for with a side of truffle fries and slaw, it did not disappoint!! Reserve in advance as the door marked “private” only opens for those who have booked. You climb up 50 stairs (hence the name) and after a stint up the narrow spiral staircase you arrive on a cute terrace adorned with fairy lights.

There’s a bar round the corner called Seven which is pretty good but also gets totally packed the later you go. If your on a budget there are plenty of Supermarkets and 24 hour bakeries which are all over Croatia, they do pastries and Pizzas and are always busy! I spent about 4 hours just walking around the little roads and exploring the Island, there are some really cute shops and stalls everywhere selling handmade crystal jewellery and lavender items.

There are a lot of islands nearby so you can take the taxi boats to them and spend your day at a nice beach. Hvar has been a lot of fun and if you like to party I would highly recommend it!

Next stop – Zadar!!
