I was only in Paris for a day and everything was on my list! I wanted to share the best way to spend 24 hours in Paris.

Saint Paul

I arrived in Paris at 9am and dropped my bags to the hotel as it wasn’t time to check in yet. I stayed in an area called Saint Paul which was beautiful. It was quaint and cute with cobbled streets and narrow roads with little cafes on every corner. I walked around, took some pics and had an obligatory coffee and croissant at one of the cafes.

Notre Dame Cathedral was just 15 minutes away from where I stayed. The walk there along the river Seine was beautiful. The town houses had such distinctive huge coloured doors.

Notre Dame

Notre Dame Cathedral is so detailed and the gothic architecture is rich and tells a story. The gargoyles reminded me of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The queue was massive and I have been inside before so I just took photos of the outside. I went for a midnight stroll and thought it looked even more beautiful at night. The dark architecture is quite scary at night but I felt the detail looked even more amazing in thr lighting…to imagine that was all done by hand blew me away!

Big Bus Paris

I bought a ticket for the hop on and off bus from Notre Dame. It has two circuits and a river cruise and has all the stops that are on any generic Paris list. Its a good introduction to the city and then if you have more days you can decide which places you would like to spend more time at. If you want to do Paris in 24 hours, this is definitely the best way!

The live tour guides are way better then the recorded ones. I felt lucky to see Paris just before their National day as they had set up seats for the parade and their were practice runs for the airshow up and down the Champs Elysees.

Champs Elysees

The Champs Elysees was great to stroll down, its completely buzzing and equivalent to perhaps Oxford Street in London. It is where you need to go if you want to shop, you will spot the huge flagship Louis Vuitton Boutique on the right as you approach the Arc de Triomph.

The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is still really impressive, Paris doesn’t have huge skyscrapers which really emphasises the height of the Eiffel Tower. I much preferred it at night, the lighting is nice, especially when it sparkles on the hour!

The Louvre

The Louvre has so much art inside that if I spent 1 minute at each piece it would take me 3 months. The queue was gigantic and I decided if I see it, I want to see it properly. I like to get lost in galleries not just whizz through plus I need time to appreciate the home of some of the worlds greatest paintings! I took some snaps outside the beautiful pyramid and headed to my next destination.

River Seine Cruise

I went on an hour long River Cruise down The Seine at sunset, Notre Dame was breathtaking and definitely my highlight. I loved that people come and sit on the river banks with friends or lovers to watch the sunset. I decided if I ever come back to Paris, that is on my list. It seems like Parisians really make the most of their city. They even had people salsa dancing and people just seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Nightlife in Paris

Most places shut at 1am in Paris, I found the Saint Michel area really lively and decided to go out there. Paris has more of a bar scene then clubs, people tend to go to wine bars and people watch as all the seats are outward facing which I loved. I definitely had a productive day seeing Paris in 24 hours.
